Cloudy across the Central Belt and south with rain at times. Argyll will be mainly dry this evening and overnight with clear periods across the north. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Wednesday:

Cloudy with spells of rain, although drier weather tending to spread south during the day. Further rain spreading northeast in the evening. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Mainly dry Thursday, further rain spreading northeast in the evening. Overnight rain soon clearing on Friday, then bright with a few showers in the west. Mainly dry Saturday.

An unsettled period is likely, with many places seeing showers or longer spells of rain at times. Rain is expected to be most frequent across northern and western areas, while the south and east are more likely to see longer, drier spells. There is also the potential for some strong and gusty winds, particularly in the northwest. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although brief warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south.

Confidence is very low from mid-September onwards. Initially, a continuation of the changeable pattern is most likely, with the wettest conditions in the northwest and longer drier interludes in the southeast. As we head further into September, the distribution of rainfall becomes increasingly uncertain at this range. Settled or dry spells are still likely between weather systems. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, although some warm spells are possible, particularly in the south.
