A mainly dry start with just the odd shower around. A bright but rather cloudy day with showers developing more widely from late morning onwards, some heavy and thundery. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Some heavy and thundery showers at first, these slowly dying out during the evening. A dry night with clear spells and becoming rather chilly. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Wednesday:

A dry and bright start then cloud bubbling up through the morning with showers developing. Some showers could be heavy and thundery in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain on Thursday. Mainly dry with sunny spells on Friday and Saturday and becoming warmer.

The start of this period will see a transition to a generally more settled weather pattern for much of the UK, as high pressure exerts more an influence. This will be most noticeable across southern and eastern parts, whereas areas further northwest could often be cloudier with some rain at times. With the build of pressure will come an increase in temperatures, with the potential for very warm or hot conditions to become established by mid-month, especially across parts of England and Wales. High pressure is favoured to remain close by to the UK towards the end of this period, bringing widely settled conditions and often above average temperatures.

Whilst settled conditions look most likely, with a lot of dry weather in the offing, temperatures are more uncertain, though the potential does exist for further hot spells, especially in the south. Into July, it is possible that pressure may lower from the south increasing the chance of thunderstorms here.
