Cloudy but largely dry, with perhaps the odd spot of drizzle over Galloway hills. Chance of some breaks in the cloud towards the North Sea coast. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Staying dry and mild. A cloudy start but bright or sunny spells developing through the day for most places, staying cloudy in the southwest. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Mild but windy through the week. Most places stay dry with some brightness in east, but patchy light rain may affect the southwest at times, and over most parts Friday.

This period is expected to see a transition, possibly lasting over several days, between the settled, dry, and often dull conditions expected over the next few days, to something more unsettled. Sunday itself is likely to be rather cloudy and cool, with outbreaks of rain in the west drifting slowly eastwards. The start of the following week will most likely see more settled conditions with light winds becoming re-established, with a chance of rain in both the far north and the far south, and a smaller chance that the rain could become more widespread. Later in the week, periods of much wetter and windier weather will most likely become more prevalent, from northwest to southeast, alternatively there is a very small chance of colder, drier, but perhaps wintry, easterly winds.

A dominant flow from the Atlantic looks likely through this period, resulting in an unsettled, milder and windier than average period. This is likely to result in areas of rain and periods of stronger winds affecting most if not all parts of the UK at times, though with the wettest and windiest weather probably occurring towards the north and west. However, the potential for brief colder spells with associated frost, ice and snow remains, following any deep lows crossing the region.
