Sunny spells. Patchy rain developing over Dumfries and Galloway.

Today:

A bright and chilly start with a touch of frost possible. Sunny spells will turn hazy during the day as cloud thickens from the west, patchy light rain developing through Dumfries and Galloway. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards, mostly light and patchy, but the odd heavier burst possible in the west. Turning more showery overnight, some drier and clearer spells by dawn. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Sunday:

Bright spells and showers, the best of the brightness for East Lothian and the eastern Borders during the morning. The showers could be heavy, perhaps the odd rumble of thunder. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Mainly dry and bright on Monday with early showers dying out. Rain or showers on Tuesday and Wednesday, heavy at times.

Changeable conditions are expected at first, with low pressure often close by to the north of the UK, bringing rain and showers. However, high pressure from the south is expected to quickly start to build near to the UK towards the Bank Holiday weekend, bringing some fine and dry conditions, with temperatures rising accordingly for some. Thereafter, high pressure is expected to broadly remain the dominant influence across much of the UK, with spells of fine weather. Low pressure will be positioned to the north, and will at times allow some rain or showers to cross the country. Overall across the period, temperatures are expected to be above normal with winds often light for many.

Whilst further rain and showers are possible at times, there is also likely to be spells of fine and dry weather. Patterns which bring more settled weather are more likely to dominate through the turn of the month across southern areas with more unsettled spells of weather likely to be focused further north. Into June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier weather at times. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm weather possible at times.
