This Evening and Tonight:

Outbreaks of rain will continue overnight, although easing a little during the early hours allowing a few cloud breaks to occur, chiefly across parts of Cumbria. Mild for most, but chilly under any cloud breaks. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Thursday:

Another grey day with further outbreaks of rain, especially during the afternoon. Turning colder throughout the day with some hill snow developing through the evening, especially in the north. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Rather cold with further rain and hill snow on Friday. Drier and brighter on Saturday after a frosty start. Rain and hill snow risk returns on Sunday, as temperatures recover.

Some heavy rain is likely in places, probably focussed on western hills, with some snow at times in the north, mainly on high ground. Strong winds are possible at times, especially around coasts. Temperatures will probably be near normal. Later in the period, there is a chance that drier, more settled conditions may begin to develop.
