Today:

A bright start in the south, but quickly clouding over as outbreaks of rain move into the region this morning. Showery rain will continue into the afternoon with brisk winds. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

A drier and brighter evening as rain clears to the south. Clear skies for a time, before further cloud and rain pushes in from the west in the early hours. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Sunday:

A cloudy and wet start to the day with brisk winds. Rain will ease a little into the afternoon, becoming more showery with a chance of brighter spells. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Largely cloudy at first on Monday and Tuesday with showers possible at times. A chance of drier and brighter weather from Wednesday and turning increasingly warm.

Dry at first across the south with long sunny periods, where it will also be very warm. Cloudier in the north with some outbreaks of rain, which could be heavy in places, and temperatures nearer normal. It will probably become more changeable thereafter, with potential for an area of low pressure to move close to or across the UK at the end of July or early August. This could bring spells of heavy rain and perhaps some strong winds for a time. It may become more settled again toward the end of the first week of August.

Dry and settled conditions will probably dominate much of this period with high pressure patterns tending to affect the UK. This may be interrupted at times by Atlantic frontal systems, especially in the north, or thunderstorms in the south. However, overall rainfall amounts will likely be below normal. Temperatures will probably be above normal and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
