Headline:

Some very warm sunshine, though showers expected too.

Today:

The new week will get off to a dry albeit rather cloudy start. Skies will soon brighten from the south allowing very warm sunshine to develop. Cloud beginning to increase again later, with the chance of some evening showers. Humid. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud will thicken from the south during the evening with further showers breaking out overnight, some perhaps heavy. Later though it should dry out with the cloud breaking up. Minimum temperature 15 °C.

Tuesday:

Tuesday morning looks generally fine with some very warm spells of sunshine developing. However, as cloud increases heading into the afternoon one or two showers are possible. Maximum temperature 29 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday will be less warm and breezy with sunshine and scattered showers. Becoming drier and less breezy to end the week with some more prolonged spells of sunshine, though fresher.

Rather changeable to begin this period, with some rain or showers at times, but also the likelihood of some decent drier interludes too, especially in the south. Towards mid August, high pressure may become rather more dominant towards the north or northwest of the UK, with lower pressure at times further to the south or east. This means there is a greater chance of frontal systems or thundery interludes to affect southern and eastern areas, certainly in comparison to recent weeks, though rainfall amounts could be quite variable with some areas seeing relatively little. For the most part, temperatures look to remain above average, especially in the south, though perhaps without the exceptional heat we have seen in recent weeks.

A continuation of the broad theme of high pressure remaining in place at least close to the UK, but with occasional more unsettled or changeable interludes, either resulting from Atlantic frontal systems or thundery plumes. This means that rainfall amounts overall are more likely to be below normal than above. Temperatures will probably be above average and some spells of hot weather and heatwaves are possible, especially in the south.
