Patchy cloud for much of the day with showers, these initially mainly across the Pennines but becoming more widespread during the afternoon. Best of sunny spells in the east during the morning. Windy throughout and less cold than of late. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Tonight:

Showers continuing into the evening, again more frequent across the Pennines, but spreading further east at times, especially later in the night. Winds easing through the evening. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Tuesday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain for much of the day, some of this perhaps locally heavy at times. Some brighter spells developing later in the afternoon and becoming cold overnight. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Generally unsettled through this period with outbreaks of rain or showers, but also a few brighter spells in-between. Breezy at times, with temperatures around average for the time of year.

It will likely remain changeable and at times unsettled for the UK as a whole through this period. Further areas of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic will tend to dominate, meaning showers or longer spells of rain for many parts. Wet weather will more likely be most prevalent across western areas, though given the potential for low pressure systems to become slow-moving in the vicinity of the UK, heavy rain is possible anywhere at times. Periods of windy weather are also possible from time to time. Temperatures probably near normal overall, though the possibility for some colder spells in the north, with the potential for associated winter hazards, and occasional milder interludes further south.

Low pressure is likely to continue to dominate the UK, at least at first, meaning an ongoing likelihood of further spells of rain and windy conditions from time to time. That said there should also be some brief interludes of drier weather too. Temperatures probably remaining close to average, particularly in the south, but there is the possibility of colder conditions, associated with higher pressure extending from the north or northeast, returning to northern areas around the turn of the month.
