Headline:

Rain early and late, but brighter in between.

Today:

Any early outbreaks of rain soon clearing, allowing some bright or sunny spells to develop. However, cloud thickening during the afternoon with further spells of rain arriving, heavy at times. Wind easing and fairly mild. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Evening rain clearing, leaving dry conditions with clear spells. This could allow chilly temperatures and some fog patches to develop. Further cloud and rain arriving towards dawn. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Tuesday:

A cloudy start with rain spreading from the west to all parts, this heavy at times. Perhaps some drier spells in the afternoon. Winds becoming strong later. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Unsettled with outbreaks of rain or showers, interspersed with some clearer or brighter interludes. Risk of overnight fog patches. Occasionally breezy. Perhaps turning colder by the end of the week.

Many central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frosts, and a few showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground. However, it could remain cloudier, milder and wetter initially across some southern and southwestern areas, with some uncertainty as to how quickly this clears away to the south. It is most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall may return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
