Cloudy and dry to start for many but with coastal showers initially. Turning brighter through the morning and feeling pleasant in sunny spells. Showers develop during the day, but these will be isolated and lighter than on Sunday. Freshening winds. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

Any lingering showers ease to leave a dry, partly cloudy evening. Remaining partly cloudy with clear spells overnight and dry for most areas. Feeling cooler. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Tuesday:

A partly cloudy and dry start to the day. Isolated showers may develop mainly over the Dales, but many areas see a dry, if cooler, day. Fresh winds. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Heavy rain crosses the area through Wednesday morning, with blustery showers to follow. Drier on Thursday before further rain then showers on Friday. Fresh mainly winds.

Likely remaining unsettled with most areas seeing some showers or longer spells of rain at times, with the main focus for these across northern and western areas, the best of any longer dry spells across the southeast. Potential for some strong and gusty winds at times, again the northwest more prone to these. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although some short-lived warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south.

Signals are fairly limited from mid-September onward. At first, probably a continuation of a changeable regime with the wettest conditions in the northwest and longer drier interludes in the southeast. However, the distribution of rainfall soon becomes very unclear, although compared to earlier in the month there is a greater chance of more prolonged settled/dry spells. Temperatures likely varying around average with some warm spells likely, especially in the south.
