A day of cloud and rain, the rain persistent and at times heavy across the Pennines, will spread eastwards across the area through the morning. Becoming breezy, especially over western hills. Feeling humid. Rain turning lighter later. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Rain will clear through the evening, leaving a few clear spells, especially in the east, although an isolated shower remains possible. Mild and breezy. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Friday:

Patchy cloud and sunny spells expected for much of the day with most areas staying dry, although isolated light showers are possible. Breezy. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Generally dry through this period with patchy cloud and sunny spells. Breezy on Saturday but winds falling light for Sunday and Monday. Feeling warm, especially in the sunshine.

Fine and dry across much of the UK for the first couple of days of this period with long spells of sunshine for most. Temperatures are likely to be above normal and parts of the south could be very warm for a time. Just a chance of some thunderstorms, more likely toward the southwest. A more unsettled spell is likely through the middle of next week with outbreaks of rain the north and northwest, some of which could spread to parts of the south and southeast at times. After this, high pressure will probably become more dominant with conditions turning widely dry and settled, and probably very warm for many.

High pressure is expected to lie close to the UK at the start of this period, bringing settled and mainly dry conditions. Temperatures will likely be above normal, with potential for hot conditions to develop, especially in the south. Into July, weakening of the high pressure may bring an increasing chance of more unsettled weather and thunderstorms, especially in the south.
