Isolated coastal showers initially, these possibly spreading inland for a time across eastern areas, before gradually mostly dying away later. Further west remaining dry, with a sunny start then patchy cloud and sunny intervals. Breezy coastal conditions slowly ease. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry at first with long clear periods. Later in the night scattered showers arrive along the coast, perhaps pushing showers a little way inland. Becoming chilly, with light winds. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Sunday:

Some sunny spells, especially at first, but cloud increases and scattered showers continue for a while along and near the coast. Later most showers die away and cloud breaks develop. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Often cloudy with a chance of patchy rain Monday and Tuesday, but also some drier periods. Potentially spells of heavy rain for Wednesday. Temperatures will be generally near normal.

It is looking increasingly likely that a changeable if not unsettled spell of weather will affect the UK through this period, with spells of wet and windy weather arriving from the Atlantic followed by drier though still showery interludes. While there is still a chance that high pressure will build near the UK again during late October, it is more likely that the changeable or unsettled regime will continue once established. It is possible that stormy weather may also develop at times. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal overall, with mild spells likely at times, especially towards the south. In between frontal systems, colder nights are possible, with a touch of frost.

This period is highly uncertain, more so than normal, but overall it seems more likely than not that weather patterns will be dominated by westerly or southwesterly winds from the Atlantic during this period. This will result in occasional spells of wet and windy weather followed by drier but still showery interludes. High pressure may attempt to build across the country at times but any settled spells are most likely to be short-lived. Temperatures are likely to be near or above average overall.
