Dry with cloud breaking through the evening and clear spells developing widely away from the north Pennines. Winds strengthening overnight with a colder night in prospect. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday:

Mostly partly cloudy and dry, although the odd shower can't be ruled out. Moderate winds across the region with temperatures a touch warmer than Friday. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

After a fine, if breezy, morning, rain moves through Sunday afternoon. A pleasant day on Monday before an increasingly wet and windy day on Tuesday. Temperatures near average.

Remaining changeable as Atlantic frontal systems bring spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds. The wettest and windiest conditions will tend to be most frequent across western areas, with longer drier interludes most favoured in the far east and southeast, where it may be very warm at times. Into October, and high pressure to the northeast of the UK may become more influential on the weather, with some longer drier interludes focussed more across the north and northeast of the UK, whilst occasional rain may tend to be more prevalent towards the south and west. Temperatures are expected to be above average for the period as a whole.

Initially, high pressure centred to the north or northeast, with longer drier periods likely across northern UK, whilst low pressure to the southwest brings occasional rain or showers into more southern and western parts. Towards and beyond mid-October, it may turn more widely unsettled with a greater chance of wet and windy conditions at times. Temperatures will likely be above average for the period as a whole.
