Rain will become increasingly sporadic through the evening and largely confined to higher ground, with many areas turning dry. However, a further band of rain will arrive from the west late, with heavier rain expected over the Cheviots. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Sunday:

Rain will clear northeastwards early, followed by sunny spells and scattered showers. These will become increasingly heavy, widespread and potentially thundery during the late afternoon and evening. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Monday breezy with sunny spells and scattered showers, locally heavy. Also breezy on Tuesday, with heavy rain around lunchtime but sunny spells later. Mostly dry and sunny on Wednesday.

Likely remaining unsettled with most areas seeing some showers or longer spells of rain at times, with the main focus for these across northern and western areas. Potential for some strong and gusty winds at times. Some drier and more settled interludes could develop, perhaps becoming longer in duration across southern areas later in this period. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although some short-lived warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south.

Signals are fairly limited from mid-September onward. At first, probably a continuation of a changeable regime with the wettest conditions in the northwest and longer drier interludes in the southeast. However, the distribution of rainfall soon becomes very unclear, although compared to earlier in the month there is a greater chance of more prolonged settled/dry spells. Temperatures likely varying around average with some warm spells likely, especially in the south.
