Largely dry with variable cloud during the morning. Some patchy rain over hills. Cloudier afternoon with outbreaks of heavy, showery rain accompanied by strong and gusty winds. Becoming dry overnight. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Cold, clear and fine much of Friday. Strong winds and rain Friday evening, clearing overnight. Often dry and sunny this weekend with showers focused along coasts. Fresh northerly winds. Colder.

High pressure looks like largely dominating the UK's weather at first, bringing plenty of dry but rather cold weather, though a showery easterly or northeasterly flow may affect the south. Overnight frosts along with morning fog patches are probable for some regions. By the middle of next week, conditions may turn a little more unsettled for a while, with a chance of some rain moving southeast. Through to the end of this period, there is an increased chance of spells of wetter and windier weather returning, these more likely in the north with southern areas having a better chance of more prolonged drier, more settled weather. Temperatures varying around average with both some colder and milder spells likely through this period.

Mainly unsettled conditions appear likely for most, bringing a greater prevalence of rain and showers to most areas but especially towards the northwest. Some of the showers could be wintry, especially on high ground in the north. However, there are also some signs that more settled conditions are possible at times, these perhaps most likely across the south late in the month. Temperatures are likely to be around average overall, with colder interludes bringing a risk of frost and fog.
