Headline:

Bright spells at first, but rain spreading northeast later. Warm.

Today:

Mainly dry and bright in the morning with just the odd shower. Outbreaks of rain will spread northeast during late afternoon. Warm, especially in the east. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

Some showery and mainly light rain will clear east through the evening. Then it will stay dry overnight but with low cloud pushing into the southwest. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Saturday:

It will be largely cloudy through the day with some showery outbreaks of rain which may turn heavy at times, but some brighter spells may develop in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cloudy on Sunday with a chance of showers. Sunny spells and a few showers on Monday and Tuesday. Remaining cooler than recent days.

A fairly quiet start to the period looks likely with many areas seeing a good deal of dry weather. That said we are unlikely to see a return of the completely dry and warm weather we have see in recent days, with clear or sunny periods and showers more likely. Toward the latter part of the period a trend toward more changeable weather is favoured although there should still be some drier intervals. Overall temperatures likely close to or a little below average at first, especially in the north, then returning close to average or rather warm later.

Low pressure systems are likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, heavy in places. There will, however, be some dry and warm interludes, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the month, more settled and drier conditions may begin to develop, with temperatures perhaps rising slightly above normal.
