Today:

Dry but cloudy start, with hill fog. Outbreaks of rain will gradually spread northeast later this morning, perhaps becoming heavier at times this afternoon. Temperatures will be close to average. Maximum temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud and outbreaks of rain this evening and for much of tonight, with the rain becoming light. Later dry conditions with clear spells will spread north. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Friday:

Dry with patchy cloud and sunny spells through the morning, then increasing cloud and strengthening winds through the afternoon. Feeling cold. Becoming wet and windy through the evening. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Saturday showers or spells of rain, probably drier later. Sunday dry start then a band of rain moves through. Monday chance of early outbreaks of rain, then dry and bright.

A continuation of the broadly unsettled conditions is likely through this period. One area of low pressure, intiially close to northwestern areas at the start of this period, should soon clear away, but it is likely that further areas of low pressure will develop over the North Atlantic. These will likely progress eastwards towards the UK, but could become quite slow-moving in the vicinity of the UK, as they butt up against higher pressure to the east and north. As a result, the wettest conditions are more likely in western areas, but all parts could see heavy rain at times. Strong winds are also likely at times, again more likely in the west. Temperatures are expected to remain close to or above normal.

This period is likely to be changeable, with further spells of rain or showers and some strong winds at times, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. However, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the unsettled conditions we are likely to see through the first couple of weeks of December. This will increase the chances of overnight fog and frost. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
