Colder air is pushing south across the UK, bringing a brief settled spell for Saturday before further rain and wintry hazards arrive later.

Today:

The morning will begin cold with sunny spells and a sharp frost at first. The day will then continue dry as high cloud spreads northeast from the morning. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

The evening will be dry with high cloud at first. Cloud will lower from the late evening with snow soon following northeast . Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Sunday:

Early snow will soon clear east then after a brief dry spell rain will spread east. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

There will be the odd wintry shower but Monday to Wednesday will stay mostly dry with bright or sunny spells at times.

Some heavy rain is likely in places, with some snow at times in the north, mainly on high ground. Temperatures varying from around average to cold at times, especially in the north. While unsettled weather is likely to dominate, there will be some drier interludes between weather systems. Later in the period, there is a chance that more prolonged drier and settled conditions may begin to develop.
