Showers or longer spells of rain

Today:

Partly cloudy with a few showers at first. Then dry and bright for a time, but turning cloudier with occasionally heavy rain and strengthening winds in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Tonight:

Any rain soon clearing in the early evening, followed by increasingly clear spells and a few showers, these mostly fading out overnight. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Saturday:

Bright or sunny spells and just the odd shower to start. Cloudier in the afternoon with some showers over north Argyll, staying dry with bright spells for Greater Glasgow. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cloudy and quite breezy with occasional rain on Sunday and Monday, especially across Argyll. Rain clearing southeast Tuesday morning, followed by bright spells and a few showers.

Cloudy with some rain in the far southeast and heavy showers in the far north, but otherwise a good deal of fine and dry weather at the start of this period. This will quickly change as weather systems move in from the Atlantic at the end of next week and over the following weekend. These will bring spells of rain or showers to most areas, heavy at times (especially in the northwest) with some strong winds. Into the middle of the month, similarly changeable conditions are most likely, with a mixture of Atlantic weather systems interspersed with some drier, brighter spells. Temperatures will likely be near to or slightly below normal at first, maybe becoming warmer later.

The second half of October will probably maintain a changeable pattern overall with showers or longer spells of rain often moving in from the Atlantic. This means the wettest and at times windiest weather is more likely in the west and northwest, and relatively drier conditions more likely towards the south and east. With a westerly type considered most likely, this would support temperatures remaining close to or a little above average overall. However, there is a chance that more slowly evolving weather patterns develop, which could either lead to longer drier spells more widely or rainfall accumulating in climatologically drier areas.
