A dry morning with bright and sunny spells. Remaining dry through the afternoon with some sunny spells but generally turning cloudier. A few spots of rain are possible over western Argyll, where it will also be windy. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Tonight:

Some clear spells at first this evening but soon turning cloudier with outbreaks of rain spreading northwards. Cloudy overnight with outbreaks of rain. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Monday:

A mostly cloudy day with outbreaks of rain. Becoming drier with sunny spells for a time in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Mostly cloudy with showers and at times longer spells of heavier, more persistent rain, though still with some dry and bright spells. Winds strengthening Tuesday, staying strong Wednesday and Thursday.

This period will continue to see the UK located at the interface between high pressure across Europe and low pressure over the North Atlantic. As such, north western areas will likely see the focus of spells of rain at times, along with stronger winds, whereas south eastern parts should see more in the way of drier interludes, though even here, some rain is expected from time to time. Temperatures should overall be a little above average for most areas, though there are likely to be times when it will be cooler too, bringing a risk of overnight frosts.

The start of this period could see unsettled conditions fairly widely across the UK, with spells of rain and strong winds affecting many areas at times, although western areas likely remain wettest. Then, whilst confidence in the details is low, there is the potential for weather patterns to become slower-moving by late March, bringing more settled and drier conditions . Overall, temperatures will probably end up near to average, though there are indications of a cooler spell near the turn of the month.
