Today:

It will be cloudy throughout the day with spells of rain, heaviest and most persistent towards Lochaber and Mull at first, then towards eastern Caithness and Sutherland later. Coastal gales in the southwest at first, developing across Caithness later. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud and rain clear northeast, becoming confined to Caithness overnight. After the rain clears areas of fog will form overnight. Strong southeast winds in the north will gradually ease. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Monday:

Often dry with bright spells on Monday though areas of overnight fog may be slow to clear. Cloudy with some showers over Caithness. Light winds. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Often cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain, and occasionally strong winds from Tuesday through to Thursday.

Remaining unsettled to start the period as an area of low pressure clears into the North Sea. Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, and strong winds will likely ease through Friday as the low continues to move eastwards. This will leave a colder northerly flow for a time at the weekend which will be showery around the coasts but with sunny spells inland. Into the following week, conditions are expected to be changeable with showers or longer spells of rain across many parts of the UK. The cold northerly will likely give way to a more changeable westerly pattern and the wettest weather will probably be in parts of the north and west. Temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly below normal for the time of year.

Changeable and unsettled with weather systems spreading from the west. These will bring spells of rain, heavy at times, and some strong winds, interspersed with drier, brighter, and less windy periods between systems. The heaviest rain will probably be across northern areas at first, migrating to western areas later. Temperatures are expected to be close to normal or slightly below.
