Early rain in east, otherwise bright spells and scattered showers.

Today:

A cloudy start in the east with outbreaks of rain but these soon clearing. Otherwise, mainly dry and bright but a few showers will develop, these becoming more widespread in the west later. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

A bright evening in the east but cloudier in the west with showers or longer spells of rain. The showers will spread eastwards overnight. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Tuesday:

A largely cloudy day with bright intervals and showers. Some of these could be heavy and thundery. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Sunshine and heavy showers on Wednesday. A dry and sunny start to Thursday but cloud and patchy rain spreading east. Sunshine and showers likely on Friday.

The start of this period will see a transition to a generally more settled weather pattern for much of the UK, as high pressure exerts more an influence. This will be most noticeable across southern and eastern parts, whereas areas further northwest could often be cloudier with some rain at times. With the build of pressure will come an increase in temperatures, with the potential for very warm or hot conditions to become established by mid-month, especially across parts of England and Wales. High pressure is favoured to remain close by to the UK towards the end of this period, bringing widely settled conditions and often above average temperatures.

High pressure is likely to be close by to the UK at the start of this period, although its position relatively to the UK is more uncertain. Whilst settled conditions look most likely, with a lot of dry weather in the offing, temperatures are more uncertain, though the potential does exist for further hot spells, especially in the south. Into July, it is possible that pressure may lower from the south increasing the chance of thunderstorms here.
