Cloudy start with some rain, becoming drier and brighter

Today:

A mostly cloudy morning with outbreaks of mainly light rain. The rain becomes patchier and increasingly confined to Argyll this afternoon, with some bright or sunny spells developing. Very mild with mainly light southerly winds, although breezier near coasts. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Largely dry night with variable, often large, amounts of cloud but still some clearer spells. Patchy rain edges north towards Glasgow towards dawn. Mild with mainly light winds. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Friday:

A rather cloudy morning with outbreaks of rain spreading north, perhaps occasionally heavy to the east of Glasgow. Becoming drier and brighter from the south through the afternoon. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Saturday and Sunday, largely dry mornings with sunny spells but outbreaks of rain spreading northeast in afternoons. Monday looks largely dry with sunny spells. A little cooler but remaining mild.

The start of this period is likely to be largely unsettled and mostly mild, with bands or areas of rain moving across most parts of the UK, although tending to be focused more on western and possibly southern parts. Locally strong winds may also accompany some of the rain. Some drier spells are also likely, the best of these probably towards the east and possibly the north. Where skies are clear and winds light overnight, frost and fog are likely, the fog slow to clear. From around the middle of the month, we may see a transition towards more generally drier weather across the UK, and with this it is likely to turn a little cooler overall, with a greater risk of overnight frost.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
