It will be dry and warm with lengthy sunny spells throughout the day, but sunshine turning somewhat hazier as cloud spreads south in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Tonight:

Dry at first with some hazy evening sunshine. It will stay mostly dry overnight, but turning cloudy over northern Argyll and the Isles with the odd spot of rain possible. Minimum temperature 11 °C.

Monday:

It will be dry throughout the day with variable cloud and some warm sunny spells. Generally cloudier over northern Argyll and the Isles. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Dry again Tuesday with variable cloud and some warm sunny spells. Mostly dry on Wednesday and Thursday but often cloudy with the chance of some patchy light rain. Breezy Thursday.

Dry on Friday for most with sunny spells. Northern and northwestern areas will be cloudier with occasional patchy rain or drizzle. Into the weekend and perhaps the start of next week, more unsettled weather with rain at times, especially across northern parts of the UK. This rain may very well reach southern areas too, but could become more light and patchy here. Confidence becomes lower as we approach the turn of the month, but there are signs that high pressure will return, which means dry conditions would resume, especially in the south. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, occasionally fresh around northern coasts. Temperatures are expected to be near or above normal, warmest in the south, perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August.

Higher pressure is considered generally more likely than lower pressure through August. This means settled and dry weather will likely prevail, especially across the south. There still could be rain at times across northern parts, but should become less frequent where dry and warm conditions extend northwards. Although most areas may see dry weather for the much of the period, occasional summertime thunderstorms are possible on some days given the right ingredients. Winds are expected to be generally light or moderate, and occasionally fresh around coastal areas. Temperatures will very likely remain above normal, with potential for further hot spells, particularly in the south.
