It will be a dry day and cloudy at times but still with some good bright and sunny spells, the best of these will be early morning and again from late afternoon. Light northwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

It will be a dry evening with long clear spells developing, especially over Argyll and Bute. Remaining dry overnight with plenty of clear spells. Light winds. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Monday:

A dry morning with long spells of sunshine, especially near western coasts. Turning cloudy in the afternoon with the odd shower possible in the east, staying dry towards the coast. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

High pressure dominates bringing a dry and settled few days with light winds. Plenty of bright and sunny spells, especially in the west with the east cloudier at times.

High pressure is likely to be centred to the north of the UK through much of this period. Overall, many places will probably be largely dry with clear or sunny periods. There is a chance of some rain or showers at times in the far southwest and northeast, perhaps turning wintry in parts of Scotland. Wind may be strong at times around coasts, mainly in the southwest and northeast. Temperatures will probably be near normal or slightly above for many, but with a risk of colder conditions affecting the north at times.

Slowly evolving weather patterns are likely through the first half of May. Within this, high pressure is likely to be located somewhere to the north or northwest and low pressure closer to southern areas. The orientation of and proximity to the UK of each of these features will be key to regional weather on a day-to-day basis. However, on balance, northern and some western areas are likely be drier, with southern and possibly some eastern parts seeing more in the way of rain or showers. Overall, temperatures probably close to or a little above average, though scope for some cold nights with late season frost, especially in the north.
