Today:

Any low cloud across eastern Caithness soon dispersing this morning. Otherwise a dry day with some bright or sunny spells. Becmoing very warm, locally hot. Caithness somewhat cooler. Maximum temperature 25 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry this evening, one or two thundery shower possible across the northwest. Showers or longer spells of rain becoming more widespread overnight in west, but drier in the east. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Friday:

The west will see showers or longer spells of rain, occasioanlly heavy. Drier in the east with some brightness along the Moray Firth coast. Brisk west or southwesterly winds. Cooler. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Outbreaks of rain will spread east on Saturday, occasionally heavy later. Scattered showers on Sunday. Further rain likely on Monday.

During the first week of June, Atlantic weather systems are expected to move in from the west, bringing showers or longer spells of rain at times. The best of the drier conditions are more likely towards the south and east, with more frequent rain across the west and northwest, although there will be drier interludes here also. Drier weather may start to become more dominant as we head into the second week of June. Temperatures will be near-normal overall, with the warmest spots most likely across eastern areas. It will also be breezy at times, especially across western parts, and notably so around exposed coasts.

Still fairly changeable or unsettled at first, with Atlantic frontal systems bringing showers or longer spells of rain particularly into the north and west at times. Otherwise high pressure may become more dominant with weather conditions becoming drier and more settled, although some showery interludes are still possible. Temperatures are expected to be near normal at first, but probably rising above average as we head further into June.
