Headline:

Damp in the east, drier in west.

Today:

Rain in the east, perhaps turning heavy at times before gradually easing through the afternoon. Occasionally breezy around the coasts. Generally dry in the west and somewhat cloudy to start, but some bright spells developing through the day. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy over the Caithness, Sutherland and the east with some outbreaks of mainly light rain, becoming mostly dry overnight. Dry with some clear spells in the west, turning cloudier overnight. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Saturday:

Mostly dry but somewhat cloudy to start but bright or sunny spells developing through the day, as well as a few sharp showers. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Then rain or showers at times, occasionally heavy, along with some drier and brighter spells. Winds will be mostly light on Sunday, freshening on Monday and Tuesday.

Likely remaining unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain across all areas at times. Rainfall amounts will probably be above average for the time year across many areas with the wettest conditions in the northwest. Potential for some strong winds at times. Some drier and more settled interludes could develop, perhaps becoming longer in duration across southern areas later in this period. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although some short-lived warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south.

Signals are fairly limited from mid-September onward. At first, probably a continuation of a changeable regime with the wettest conditions in the northwest and longer drier interludes in the southeast. However, the distribution of rainfall soon becomes very unclear though compared to earlier in the month there is a greater chance of more prolonged settled/dry spells. Temperatures likely varying around average with some warm spells likely, especially in the south.
