Today:

The morning will be cloudy with showers, frequent in the northeast. These showers will clear north as bright spells build from the late morning. Cloud and rain will push into the south towards the evening. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight:

A dry evening with clear spells in the north. Cloud and rain in the south will spread north from the late evening. Windy. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday:

Much of the day will be cloudy and windy with frequent showers. The showers will clear and the wind will die down from the late afternoon. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Unsettled conditions continue through this period with bands of heavy rain passing northeast Sunday afternoon and Tuesday morning. Bright spells and mainly dry Monday.

A continuation of the broadly unsettled conditions is likely through this period. One area of low pressure, intiially close to northwestern areas at the start of this period, should soon clear away, but it is likely that further areas of low pressure will develop over the North Atlantic. These will likely progress eastwards towards the UK, but could become quite slow-moving in the vicinity of the UK, as they butt up against higher pressure to the east and north. As a result, the wettest conditions are more likely in western areas, but all parts could see heavy rain at times. Strong winds are also likely at times, again more likely in the west. Temperatures are expected to remain close to or above normal.

This period is likely to be changeable, with further spells of rain or showers and some strong winds at times, especially in the west and northwest. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. However, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather, compared to the unsettled conditions we are likely to see through the first couple of weeks of December. This will increase the chances of overnight fog and frost. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
