Dry, warm and sunny today. Coastal mist far northwest.

Today:

Any overnight fog and low cloud dispersing this morning, although some may linger across Harris, Lewis and the Sutherland coast. Otherwise dry with plenty of sunshine. Warm, and locally very warm in the west. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

This evening will be dry with some late sunshine. Then the rest of the night will be dry and clear with some patchy fog and low cloud. Patchy frost. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Friday:

Dry in the morning with some sunshine. Clouding over in the afternoon with the chance of the of a few showers later. Warm. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Cooler and cloudy over the weekend with a chance of showers, these most widespread on Saturday. Rain at first on Monday then mainly dry.

A mostly settled start to the period looks likely with many areas seeing a good deal of dry weather. That said we are unlikely to see a return of the completely dry and warm weather we have see in recent days, with clear or sunny periods and showers more likely. Toward the latter part of the period a trend toward more changeable weather is favoured although there should still be some drier intervals. Overall temperatures likely close to or a little below average at first, especially in the north, then returning close to average or rather warm later.

Low pressure systems are likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, heavy in places. There will, however, be some dry and warm interludes, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the month, more settled and drier conditions may begin to develop, with temperatures perhaps rising slightly above normal.
