Headline:

Mainly dry and bright.

Today:

It will be mainly dry and bright, but still quite cold on Saturday and we may still see the odd light shower in the morning. Light winds. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

Staying mostly dry with clear spells through the evening and overnight allowing a widespread frost to develop. Becoming cloudier over Caithness and Sutherland towards morning with a few showers. Minimum temperature -3 °C.

Sunday:

A band of showery rain spreads south through the morning. Otherwise largely dry with bright spells. Remaining quite cold. Freshening northerly winds later. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A cold few days with a scattering of showers, becoming increasingly wintry. Chance of more persistent rain, sleet or snow on Tuesday. Cold northerly winds, strong at times.

Colder conditions, already affecting the far north of the UK are likely to extend south to affect all parts through the early part of the period. Initially we may see some less cold conditions with some cloud, rain and possibly hill snow affecting parts of the west. It is as this clears Wednesday that the colder conditions will extend south, bringing some snow showers into northern parts, and the first frosts of the season for many parts of the south. Later in the period, there is likely to be a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall likely to return to near-average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of slower evolving weather patterns. This could bring rain or showers with hill snow also a possibility, mainly in the north. However, interspersed, there are also likely to be periods of high pressure, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
