Headline:

Mild, mainly dry on Wednesday, some brightness in the east.

This Evening and Tonight:

Staying cloudy in the west, mostly dry but with some patchy light drizzle. Dry in the east with perhaps the odd clearer spell. Strong southwest winds. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Wednesday:

Widely cloudy but dry at first, some brighter spells developing through the morning in the east. Staying cloudy in the west with some outbreaks of rain later. Mild and windy. Maximum temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Mild conditions continue. Outbreaks of rain in the west clear Thursday before returning on Friday, and again for a time on Saturday. Mainly dry, bright east. Windy at times.

This period is expected to see a transition, possibly lasting over several days, between the settled, dry, and often dull conditions expected over the next few days, to something more unsettled. Sunday itself is likely to be rather cloudy and cool, with outbreaks of rain in the west drifting slowly eastwards. The start of the following week will most likely see more settled conditions with light winds becoming re-established, with a chance of rain in both the far north and the far south, and a smaller chance that the rain could become more widespread. Later in the week, periods of much wetter and windier weather will most likely become more prevalent, from northwest to southeast, alternatively there is a very small chance of colder, drier, but perhaps wintry, easterly winds.

A dominant flow from the Atlantic looks likely through this period, resulting in an unsettled, milder and windier than average period. This is likely to result in areas of rain and periods of stronger winds affecting most if not all parts of the UK at times, though with the wettest and windiest weather probably occurring towards the north and west. However, the potential for brief colder spells with associated frost, ice and snow remains, following any deep lows crossing the region.
