It will be a cloudy day with rain throughout and snow on the hills. Some drier and brighter spells are possible over the Isles, but rain heavy at times elsewhere. Breezy easterly winds, strong in the west. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

Rain and hill snow gradually clearing to the south through the night, allowing some clear spells to develop. By dawn, wintry showers feed into the north. Breezy in the west. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Thursday:

Scattered wintry showers spread southwards over the area, but still some long dry spells and bright intervals between showers. Maximum temperature 4 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Wintry showers continue on Friday before turning largely dry with sunny spells on Saturday. A band of rain spreads eastwards on Sunday. Northerly winds turn southerly before becoming strong Sunday.

Showers or longer spells of rain are expected as Atlantic low pressure systems dominate in the vicinity of the UK. Some heavy rain is likely in places, probably focussed on western hills, with some snow at times in the north, mainly on high ground. Strong winds are possible at times, especially around coasts. Temperatures will probably be near normal. Later in the period, there is a chance that drier, more settled conditions may begin to develop.
