Today:

A few early showers, otherwise mostly dry with some sunny spells around, with patchy mist and low cloud affecting the Moray Firth coast. Cloud increasing across the Outer Hebrides later this afternoon bringing patchy rain. Mainly light southeasterly breeze. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Mainly dry, although patchy rain affecting the Outer Hebrides, with variable, often large, amounts of cloud but also some clearer spells. Still some patchy low cloud and mist in east. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Saturday:

Some bright spells at first and perhaps in south and west later, but generally a rather cloudy day with occasional mainly light rain spreading northeast. Strengthening southerly winds in west. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Bright start in north Sunday, otherwise cloudy with occasional rain, perhaps heavy in south. A few showers Monday with sunny spells. Bright morning Tuesday, but risk of heavy rain later.

The start of this period is likely to be largely unsettled and mostly mild, with bands or areas of rain moving across most parts of the UK, although tending to be focused more on western and possibly southern parts. Locally strong winds may also accompany the rain at times. Some drier spells are also likely, the best of these probably towards the east and possibly the north. Where skies are clear and winds light overnight, frost and fog are likely, the fog slow to clear. From around the middle of the month, we may see a transition towards more generally drier weather across the UK, and with this it is likely to turn a little cooler overall, with a greater risk of overnight frost.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are highly uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
