Headline:

Mainly dry and bright. Some rain later.

Today:

It will be dry with some sunshine in the morning. Clouding over from the southwest in the afternoon with some showery rain extending northeast later. Warm. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight:

Some showery and mainly light rain will clear northeast through the evening. Then it will stay dry overnight with perhaps the odd clear spell developing by dawn. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Saturday:

Some bright spells possible at first, but soon clouding over with showery outbreaks of rain, these turning heavy in places in the afternoon. A little less warm than Friday. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cloudy on Sunday with a chance of showers. Rain for a time on Monday, otherwise sunny spells and a few showers continuing through Tuesday. Remaining cooler with some overnight frost.

A fairly quiet start to the period looks likely with many areas seeing a good deal of dry weather. That said we are unlikely to see a return of the completely dry and warm weather we have see in recent days, with clear or sunny periods and showers more likely. Toward the latter part of the period a trend toward more changeable weather is favoured although there should still be some drier intervals. Overall temperatures likely close to or a little below average at first, especially in the north, then returning close to average or rather warm later.

Low pressure systems are likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, heavy in places. There will, however, be some dry and warm interludes, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the month, more settled and drier conditions may begin to develop, with temperatures perhaps rising slightly above normal.
