Today:

A dry and bright start but soon turning cloudier as rain and drizzle, heavy at times, spreads northwards in the morning. A cloudy afternoon with outbreaks of rain continuing to move northwards, clearing the area later. Breezy around the coast. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

A largely dry night in the east with late bright spells in the evening, and clear spells overnight. Cloudier in the west with a few showers possible. Breezier overnight. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Friday:

A dry morning with bright or sunny spells. Bright spells continuing through the afternoon with showers developing, especially in the west where they may be heavy. Windy at times. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Cloudy and breezy on Saturday with heavy showers clearing later in the day. Dry Sunday and Monday with sunny spells, but possibly cloudier towards the coasts. Becoming warmer in west.

Fine and dry across much of the UK for the first couple of days of this period with long spells of sunshine for most. Temperatures are likely to be above normal and parts of the south could be very warm for a time. Just a chance of some thunderstorms, more likely toward the southwest. A more unsettled spell is likely through the middle of next week with outbreaks of rain the north and northwest, some of which could spread to parts of the south and southeast at times. After this, high pressure will probably become more dominant with conditions turning widely dry and settled, and probably very warm for many.

High pressure is expected to lie close to the UK at the start of this period, bringing settled and mainly dry conditions. Temperatures will likely be above normal, with potential for hot conditions to develop, especially in the south. Into July, weakening of the high pressure may bring an increasing chance of more unsettled weather and thunderstorms, especially in the south.
