A few showers across the far north at first, and along the west coast through the day. Otherwise mainly dry although quite cloudy with a few sunny intervals. Light winds. Cold. Maximum temperature 5 °C.

Tonight:

A few showers along the west coast this evening and overnight. Otherwise a dry night with clear periods and some fog and frost in the north and east. Minimum temperature -2 °C.

Thursday:

After a dry start rain and hill snow will spread northeast during the afternoon and evening. Drier and clearer later. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Very windy with spells of rain snow on Friday, severe gales at times. Scattered wintry showers Saturday. Mainly dry on Sunday but further rain and strong winds later.

This looks like being and unsettled period across much of the country, but especially for northern and western parts. During Monday, another deep area of low pressure looks likely to move across the UK from the Atlantic, bringing wet and windy conditions to most if not all parts. Further spells of wet and windy weather look like moving east from the Atlantic to affect the UK during the rest of the period too, with drier, brighter spells in between. There is the potential for further weather warnings or even a named storm at some point. Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly, and brief cool spells with some overnight frost are likely between weather systems.

Generally mild at first, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds alternating with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes. With time, these may become increasingly confined to northern parts, with pressure possibly building across southern areas. This would result in longer drier and more-settled spells here, albeit with an increased chance of overnight fog and frost with temperatures falling correspondingly.
