Headline:

Dry and sunny, clouding over with rain in the evening.

Today:

After a cold start for many it will be a dry day with some long spells of sunshine and fairly light breezes, although windier for the Hebrides later in the day. Tending to cloud over later in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Tonight:

A dry clear evening for much of the area but rain moving across the Hebrides will spread east during the night, cloudy and windy with further rain by dawn. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Sunday:

A wet and windy start to Sunday, perhaps the far north dry until mid-morning. Drier for a time in the afternoon before further rain spreads north later in the day. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

A wet start to the new week but rain clearing later on Monday, some settled conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday with some March sunshine breaking through.

Much of this period looks like being largely dominated by high pressure, especially towards the south or southeast of the UK. This will mean many places seeing plenty of dry weather with variable cloud amounts and some sunshine, the best of this towards the south or southeast, but perhaps with some fog overnight. However, frontal systems are still likely to affect the north and west of the UK at times though, maybe also briefly affecting other parts, bringing some rain and strong winds, and perhaps a little snow to the high ground in the north. Temperatures will be near or above normal, although patchy overnight frost is still likely at times.

Little change at first, probably most unsettled in the west and northwest but drier and brighter toward the east and southeast. Lower confidence late-March but perhaps a trend toward more blocked and slow-moving weather patterns, although uncertain whether this will lead to cyclonic and so more unsettled weather or anti-cyclonic, more settled and maybe colder patterns in the vicinity of the UK. In general, some rain still probable but distribution of any wetter areas is extremely low confidence. Temperatures overall near or above average, perhaps with a slightly increasing chance this may trend colder toward the end of the month.
