It will be cloudy with outbreaks of rain, the rain heavy and persistent at times in the west. Turning more showery through the afternoon with some brighter spells, the best of the brightness around Inverness. Windy, coastal gales at times. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Tonight:

Remaining showery during this evening, these heaviest and most widespread in the west. The showers becoming more scattered overnight with clearer spells. Breezy, strong winds around the north coast. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Friday:

A bright day with sunny spells and a scattering of showers. The showers dying back towards the west coast during the afternoon, then mainly dry through the evening. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Wet and windy early on Saturday, turning drier and brighter from the west. Mainly dry and bright on Sunday then cloudy with outbreaks of rain on Monday.

Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times. However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas. Later in the month, high pressure may become more dominant in the vicinity of the UK, perhaps bringing more widely settled conditions for a time, especially away from the far north. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, along with occasional relatively cool nights.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may start to weaken its influence on the weather later in the month and into early October. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
