Today:

Dry throughout the day. There will be a good deal of sunshine but some patchy low cloud may come and go along eastern coasts. Warm across Orkney. Fresh south or southeasterly winds. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

This evening will be dry with some sunshine. Then the rest of the night will remain dry with prolonged clear periods. Fresh southerly winds, easing later. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Friday:

Most of the day will be dry with some hazy sunshine. High cloud thickening through the afternoon to bring the odd light shower by evening. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Cloudy over the weekend with the chance of a few showers, but some dry weather too. Early rain on Monday followed by showers, turning colder.

A fairly quiet start to the period looks likely with many areas seeing a good deal of dry weather. That said we are unlikely to see a return of the completely dry and warm weather we have see in recent days, with clear or sunny periods and showers more likely. Toward the latter part of the period a trend toward more changeable weather is favoured although there should still be some drier intervals. Overall temperatures likely close to or a little below average at first, especially in the north, then returning close to average or rather warm later.

Low pressure systems are likely to dominate across the UK at the start of this period. This means showers or longer spells of rain are likely at times, heavy in places. There will, however, be some dry and warm interludes, although temperatures are likely to be close to normal overall. Later in the month, more settled and drier conditions may begin to develop, with temperatures perhaps rising slightly above normal.
