Showers will continue across Norfolk and Suffolk overnight, but elsewhere it will remain mainly dry with plenty of clear spells. Turning chilly, particularly inland. Breezy at times, especially towards the coast. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Saturday:

Dry at first in the west with sunny spells. Coastal showers will gradually spread further inland through the day, with cloud increasing during the afternoon. Breezy throughout. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Cooler through this period, with sunny spells and showers. Showers most frequent near the coast, though occasionally spreading inland from Sunday. Breezy at times.

It is looking increasingly likely that a changeable if not unsettled spell of weather will affect the UK through this period, with spells of wet and windy weather arriving from the Atlantic followed by drier though still showery interludes. While there is still a chance that high pressure will build near the UK again during late October, it is more likely that the changeable or unsettled regime will continue once established. It is possible that stormy weather may also develop at times. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal overall, with mild spells likely at times, especially towards the south. In between frontal systems, colder nights are possible, with a touch of frost.

This period is highly uncertain, more so than normal, but overall it seems more likely than not that weather patterns will be dominated by westerly or southwesterly winds from the Atlantic during this period. This will result in occasional spells of wet and windy weather followed by drier but still showery interludes. High pressure may attempt to build across the country at times but any settled spells are most likely to be short-lived. Temperatures are likely to be near or above average overall.
