Today:

Largely dry with bright or sunny spells. Chance of some well scattered showers developing throughout the day, although these will be less heavy than on Thursday. Breezy along coasts. Slightly milder inland than recent days. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Tonight:

Any showers fading to leave a largely dry night, with lengthy clear spells. Chance of a few coastal showers. Turning chilly, with patchy frost in prone rural spots. Light winds. Minimum temperature 1 °C.

Saturday:

Largely dry and bright, after a chilly start. However, cloud will increase from the west during the afternoon, which will bring some outbreaks of rain by evening. Light winds. Maximum temperature 14 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Early rain clearing to give largely dry and bright conditions on Sunday. Sunny spells and showers, locally heavy, on Monday. Wet and windy conditions spread east Tuesday. Temperatures near average.

Changeable conditions look to dominate at first, with low pressure often close by. This means periods of rain or showers, some of which could be heavy and more focussed across northwestern areas. Drier interludes are also expected, most especially across southeastern UK. As this period progresses, high pressure is likely to begin to build from the south bringing more settled weather, although with occasional showers. Temperatures near-normal to begin, but tending to rise as the period progresses, perhaps becoming rather warm by the end of the period, especially in the south. Winds will be stronger during the first part of the period, generally from a southwesterly direction, before becoming lighter in line with the more settled conditions.

Whilst further rain and showers are possible at times, there is also likely to be spells of fine and dry weather. Patterns which bring more settled weather are more likely to dominate towards the end of May across southern areas with more unsettled spells of weather likely to be focused further north. Into June, more mixed conditions are likely with spells of rain and showers, but also some drier weather at times. Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above average overall, with some warm weather possible at times.
