A chilly start with fog clearing as winds freshen, becoming strong, especially near coasts. Clouding over with rain arriving later, heavy at times. Drier and clearer by evening. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Storm Éowyn will bring strong winds Friday, with heavy rain clearing later. Winds easing Saturday, rather cloudy with showery rain possible. Further strong winds and rain likely later Sunday.

This looks like being and unsettled period across much of the country, but especially for northern and western parts. During Monday, another deep area of low pressure looks likely to move across the UK from the Atlantic, bringing wet and windy conditions to most if not all parts. Further spells of wet and windy weather look like moving east from the Atlantic to affect the UK during the rest of the period too, with drier, brighter spells in between. There is the potential for further weather warnings or even a named storm at some point. Temperatures overall are likely to end up being around or slightly above average, though wind and rain will make it feel chilly, and brief cool spells with some overnight frost are likely between weather systems.

Generally mild at first, with periods of rain, showers and strong winds alternating with short-lived brighter and cooler interludes. These may become increasingly confined to northern parts during this period though, with pressure possibly building across southern areas in particular. This would result in longer drier and more-settled spells here, albeit with an increased chance of overnight fog and frost and temperatures falling a little correspondingly.
