Any showers becoming confined to windward coasts overnight. Otherwise, largely dry with prolonged clear spells developing inland and winds gradually easing. A patchy frost forming in places by dawn. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Thursday:

A chilly start, although it will be dry with some good spells of sunshine. Turning increasingly cloudy from the west into the afternoon. Feeling milder than Wednesday, with lighter winds. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Cloud and rain will spread erratically southeast Friday, clearing overnight. Unsettled with sunny spells and scattered showers Saturday. Feeling cold. Largely fine and dry Sunday, before rain arrives later.

High pressure to the southwest of the UK will likely be the dominant feature for this period. This will lead to a fairly blocked pattern, with weather fronts rounding the high to affect northern parts at times, where wet and windy weather can be expected. Further south, drier and more settled conditions are more likely, as frontal systems weaken as they meet the high pressure. Through the period, high pressure is likely to spread across much of the UK leading to settled conditions developing more widely. Whilst temperatures will be generally near to or a little above average, some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north, where there could be some wintry showers at times.

High pressure will likely be dominant at the start of this period. As such, plenty of dry weather seems most likely, but with changes in wind direction leading to some quite marked differences in cloud amounts and temperature from day to day. Moving further into April, there is a chance that high pressure will become less dominant and thus there is a greater chance of more places seeing some rain and possible stronger winds from time to time. Overall, temperatures will likely be near to average.
