Early cloud and drizzle soon clearing, then dry and bright with sunny spells this morning. Cloud thickening and wind strengthening later in the afternoon with outbreaks of rain arriving in the northwest towards evening. Maximum temperature 21 °C.

Tonight:

Soon becoming wet and windy this evening with rain, occasionally heavy, moving southeastwards. Becoming drier with clear spells during the early hours, but remaining breezy. Minimum temperature 10 °C.

Tuesday:

A mixture of sunny spells and showers on Tuesday, these perhaps occasionally heavy. Wind strengthening. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Sunny spells and isolated mainly coastal showers Wednesday, wind easing. Dry start Thursday, but breezy with rain later. Early rain Friday clearing. Temperatures around average for early September.

Changeable initially, with some dry interludes and relatively cool nights, interspersed with occasional spells of rain and showers arriving from the west, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times too. A trend toward some longer dry interludes between systems as we head toward mid-September, but at this stage a return of prolonged dry, settled weather looks unlikely. Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, though still with some relatively cool nights at times.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may eventually start to weaken its influence on the weather towards the end of September. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
