Headline:

Fine and dry today, but changeable during the week ahead.

Today:

A largely fine and dry day with plenty of sunshine, although the odd shower is possible during the morning. Turning cloudier in the far west later. Breezy, but feeling very warm, especially in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

Tonight:

A fine evening in the east, but cloud and patchy rain will move into the west, before spreading eastwards overnight. A mild if not rather humid night to come. Minimum temperature 16 °C.

Monday:

A rather grey start with some patchy rain or drizzle, especially over hills. Turning brighter towards lunchtime, with some sunshine developing. Feeling a little fresher with temperatures nearer to average. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Sunshine and showers on Tuesday, although showers easing later. Mostly fine and dry Wednesday and initially Thursday, before some patchy rain arrives later. Feeling a little cool for early September.

Changeable initially, with some dry interludes and relatively cool nights, interspersed with occasional outbreaks of rain or showers arriving from the west, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times too. A trend toward some longer dry interludes between systems as we head toward mid-September, but at this stage a return of prolonged dry, settled weather looks unlikely. Temperatures will probably be close to average overall, though still with some relatively cool nights at times.

High pressure initially close to the UK, with a continuation of more settled conditions at times, may eventually start to weaken its influence on the weather towards the end of September. As a result, it may become more changeable with a greater chance of rain or showers in places, and perhaps some strong winds at times too. Temperatures will likely be a little above average overall, with relatively cool nights possible at first tending to reduce in frequency later in the period.
