Wet and windy for today.

Today:

An overcast day with periods of rain that turn heavy at times, particularly in the south through to mid-morning and again from mid-afternoon. Southeast winds increasing strong around the east coasts, perhaps touching gale for the late afternoon. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

Rain and cloud clearing to a mix of clear spells and isolated light showers by mid to late evening, as the winds veer to the southwest and ease. Minimum temperature 7 °C.

Wednesday:

Mainly dry with only a few light well scattered showers about. Best of the brighter spells expected for the morning. Winds easing light from late morning. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Thursday cloudy with showers or longer periods of rain. North mainly dry and occasionally bright for Friday and Saturday, but rain increasingly likely to run across southern areas.

Central and northern parts of the UK will likely be in a colder but drier regime than of late with overnight frost, and some showers near windward coasts in particular which may be wintry on high ground in the north. However, across the south it is likely to be cloudier and wetter initially, with some uncertainty as to how quickly this clears away to the south. It is most likely that the bulk of the UK will experience drier and colder conditions into the first part of next week. Later in the period there is increasing uncertainty, but a trend towards more changeable conditions is possible, with some rain or showers in places, and perhaps some hill snow at times in the north. Temperatures overall may return to near average.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November are very uncertain, there is a greater chance of spells of high pressure during this period, bringing more in the way of dry weather compared to the current weather pattern, which also increases the chances of overnight fog and frost. There will probably still be some spells of rain, showers, and stronger winds though, especially in the west. Hill snow is also a possibility, mainly in the north. Overall, near or slightly above average temperatures are most likely, though some colder spells are also possible, especially should any prolonged settled spells develop.
