Today:

Cloudy start, with outbreaks of rain sinking south across Wales. Turning drier and brighter by mid-morning with sunny spells and isolated showers, mostly in the west. Staying warm but much less humid than in recent days. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

Showers continuing in places within the northwesterly breeze, gusty around coastal areas. Turning cloudier overnight, feeling cooler than previous nights. Minimum temperature 9 °C.

Wednesday:

Winds ease through the day as they shift from a northwesterly to a wester. Showers continuing across the region, however, these will be lighter. Temperatures around average for September. Maximum temperature 17 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

A wet and windy day for Thursday but things starting to turn more settled again by Friday. Westerly winds develop with the odd light shower. Temperature near normal.

The weather will remain changeable. Occasional rain or showers will push in from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, accompanied by strong winds at times. However, there will also be some reasonably dry and more settled periods in between these systems, especially across southern areas. There is a chance settled weather may expand further northwards during the final week of September. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall, but there is scope for some rather warm days at times, as well as relatively cool nights which may bring the occasional grass frost.

A changeable theme is likely to continue, with further spells of rain and showers arriving from the North Atlantic, perhaps accompanied by strong winds at times. These are more likely to affect northern and western parts, but could also affect the wider UK if such systems push east or southeastwards. Some settled spells are also possible during this period, these most likely in the south. Temperatures for the period as a whole will probably be close to average overall.
