Often cloudy with some sunshine in places.

Today:

Little change in the weather pattern on Thursday. Remaining rather cloudy, dry with light winds. Some brightness, mainly in the west, with temperatures near the seasonal norm. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Another largely cloudy end to the day with perhaps a few early evening sunny breaks. Clearer spells developing overnight allowing temperatures to fall and fog and frost patches to form. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Friday:

A brighter start for many with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells through the day, especially out to the west. Staying dry with temperatures around average. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Bright or sunny intervals on Saturday and turning breezier. A change on Sunday as rain and brisker winds arrive from the west followed by sunshine and heavy showers on Monday.

A rather unsettled pattern is likely through much of this period, as low pressure systems originating over the North Atlantic trundle east or northeastwards across the UK. These will bring showers or longer spells of rain, perhaps accompanied by some strong winds at times, but also interspersed with some drier and brighter interludes, albeit these generally of shorter duration than the recent settled spell. Later in the period, there may be a transition to a slightly cooler and more showery northwesterly regime, as high pressure builds over the Atlantic to the west, and low pressure becomes centred to the east of the UK. Temperatures are likely to be near or slightly above average overall, although may trend slightly below normal later

It is likely to be changeable at first, with a showery northwesterly regime most favoured across the UK. Into November, an unsettled pattern is anticipated, as low pressure systems over the Atlantic track across the UK. These may be shifted farther south than normal, bringing showers or longer spells of rain fairly widely, perhaps also accompanied by some strong winds at times. Temperatures will probably be close to or slightly above average overall.
