Dry for many today with sunny spells.

Today:

A drier and brighter day for all with early mist and fog soon lifting. Plenty of sunny spells into the afternoon, although a few showers may spread across the north later. Feeling warm in the sunshine with light winds. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Increasingly cloudy this evening with a few spots of rain, before a band of persistent rain arrives from the south overnight. Becoming much breezier, and feeling chillier than recent nights. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Friday:

Widely wet and overcast, with persistent rain turning heavy in many areas, bringing a risk of flooding and challenging driving conditions. Windy too, with severe gale force winds in places. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Turning more settled over the next few days with cloudy skies bringing a few showers at times, interspersed with bright or sunny spells. Light winds, but feeling colder for all.

All parts of the UK are likely to start off on a rather cold but bright note, with some sunshine. However, some showers are likely to pepper northern and eastern coasts, these wintry over high ground and possibly to low levels in the far northeast. A brisk northerly wind will accentuate the cold feel. Overnight frost will be widespread, especially in the north. Towards the middle of next week, an area of rain and stronger winds may move southeast across much of the UK, bringing a brief less cold spell, before a resumption of the cold northerly airflow with further wintry showers. Although very uncertain, high pressure may then settle things down by next weekend before it possibly turns milder, wetter and windier from the west late in the period.

Whilst the expected weather patterns during late November and into December are inevitably very uncertain, there is a signal for largely unsettled or at least changeable conditions across the UK, with the flow tending to come mainly from the Atlantic. This means spells of wind and rain are likely for most if not all parts, with a risk of some snow, mainly in the north over high ground. Some drier, brighter interludes are also likely, with an associated risk of frost and fog. Temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal overall.
