A damp start to Thursday with outbreaks of rain clearing to showers. Further wet weather arriving by the afternoon on Friday. Drier on Saturday but blustery westerly winds.

UK long range weather forecast

The first part of this period will likely see a build of pressure across much of the UK, with Atlantic weather fronts becoming more confined to northern and northwestern areas. As such, plenty of dry and increasingly warm and perhaps rather humid weather will develop, whilst the bulk of the rain and possible strong winds are more likely to affect the northwest of the UK. Many areas may remain mostly settled towards the end of September, but there is the possibility of areas of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic bringing more widely unsettled conditions.

More changeable weather may become established more widely as we move into October, though parts of the west and northwest are perhaps most likely to see wet and windy conditions at times.
