This Evening and Tonight:

Some late sunshine for most, then a dry evening and overnight period with often clear skies. Staying cloudier across the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall, but elsewhere clear skies prevailing and turning quite chilly, especially in the countryside further east. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

Monday:

Any mist patches quickly clearing to leave prolonged sunny periods for most. Perhaps staying cloudier in the west, chiefly Devon and Cornwall, but widely warm with light winds. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Some warm sunshine for many on Tuesday and Wednesday but turning breezier and fresher later with the odd shower possible. Dry with sunny spells on Thursday after a cold start.

Atlantic weather systems will continue to bring spells of rain, showers and occasional strong winds. The wettest and windiest conditions are most likely across northern and western areas, although wet and windy weather may extend more widely at times. Between these unsettled spells, periods of drier and more settled weather are likely, especially in the south and east, where they may last for a few days. Temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal overall, but overnight fog and frost is possible during clearer, cooler nights.

Through October, changeable and occasionally unsettled weather is likely to become more frequent, with spells of rain moving in from the Atlantic. Between these periods, drier and brighter interludes are expected. As is often the case for October, deeper areas of low pressure may also bring periods of very strong winds, especially across the north and west. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly above average overall, although brief cooler interludes are possible.
